Welcome to DTC 375, "Language, Texts and Technology."

Language, Texts and Technology is a required "core" course in the BA in Digital Technology and Culture. It focuses the “relationship between technology and communication [and] writing practices from a historical point of view” (“2006-2007 Course Catalog”).

During the semester we will explore the technologies of orality, inscription, print, and the electronic mediums, exploring a variety of themes associated with them.

Purpose of the Blog
I will use this blog for three main purposes: to post announcements about the class, to archive slide shows of lectures and notes, and to post links you need for the course. You should check the blog before each class day to see if I have posted something. If you have questions, you can leave a comment in the "Comment" section. Truly, if you miss class, you need to visit this blog to see what you may have missed.

Navigating in this Blog Environment

To the left you will see several buttons: "Contact Me," "My Profile," "Link Me," and "Subscribe." If you are a member of Motime, you can use these functions. Joining is easy and costs nothing, but it is not required for the course.

Below the buttons, you will see "Links." Here I have put downloadable copies of the syllabus and assignment sheets for you along with resource links needed for the course.

The Archives area is where Motime allows me to place old postings.

Posting Comments
Unless you are a member of my blog, you cannot post to it. But you can as visitors leave "Comments." To do this, you need to click on the "Comments" link below the blog posting. A Dialogue Box will pop up; here is where you write your comment. Click "Submit Comment" when you are ready to send. If you post a Comment, please sign it.
